Chennai Charges into the IPL Semis

The Chennai Super Kings have made the finals of every IPL thus far.  While they did not exactly charge into the semis, they made it. Just.  They have lowly placed Deccan Chargers for the favour.  Bangalore needed only to overhaul 130 odd to displace The Kings from fourth but they couldn’t do it.

For those of you who haven’t followed IPL closely (and that would include me), I will give a quick update after this quick thought.  All my life I have wondered if too much cricket could ever be enough.  This year I have my answer.

At any rate, Chennai have been in the top four for some time, but due to an oddity of a nine-team competition, the Challengers have been just one point behind, always with a game in hand.  But in the end, that one game didn’t help.

The final four are Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai and Chennai in that order.  The final is this Sunday.

In England, the West Indies are being competitive again, without any real prospects of beating England.  But it is tight – just before lunch, England required 60 runs with 6 wickets in hand, with the current partnership yielding 74 runs.
