Hold the phone – this is nothing to do with the bathroom. Sorry, no toilet humour today.
As this series goes blow-for-blow, now England has their own leaking episode. And it has been leaked that Bopara will be replaced with Trott.
A couple of points:
1. Warnie was right. Before the series, Warne boldly predicted that we would not be seeing Ravi Bopara at the Oval. Bopara’s series stats of 105 runs at 15 ensured that he was ejected.
2. Trott is a great cricketing name. Albert Trott (born 1873 in Melbourne) played Test cricket for Australia and then moved to England, whom he also represented in Tests. A first in the world of cricket. He played millions of matches for Middlesex and scored more than 10,000 first class runs and took 1,674 first class wickets, before passing away at just 41. His younger brother George (born in 1866 in Melbourne, known as “Harry”), played 24 Tests for Australia.
So there you have it – Jonathan Trott has a name steeped in cricket tradition. That aside, he is your typical up and coming English batsman. He is 28 years old, was born in South Africa and averages 44.
